About
The past persists in our present through popular culture. It’s fun, but also fascinating to think about why we pick what we do from the infinitude of the past. I am a writer with too many historical enthusiasms to write a book about each–but a blog post about many is within reach! Enjoy.
Very interesting posts! π
Thanks – it’s been fun writing them!
This is such a wonderful idea! Just the sort of thing I love. π Great job, looking forward to delving into your archives!
Thanks – and vice versa!
So true. Much of our 21st century vocabulary is full of 19th or 18th century words and phrases whose original meanings are now lost or misunderstood, like the many nautical terms, from “squared away” to “learning the ropes.”
Great examples – the past is often present, we just don’t always notice it.
You are a very talented writer. Maybe you could write for a magazine or a newspaper and do book reviews or film reviews. I am very well-read, but that does not translate into any ability to write a good book review. Writing a good book review is a real gift.
I would not call this a review, but a commentary on INTO THE WILD by Jon Krakauer:

Here is a very good review of INTO THE WILD:
“A Critical Review of Into the Wild”

Thank you. I listened to Into the Wild on a long driving trip. It was mesmerizing.
This is my first visit to your Blog, & it WON’T be the last either. π
Thank you, and welcome to the blog.
